Its official now. Mizzou's Defensive Coordinator has been announced as Missouri State's head coach.
I know Mizzou is trying to focus on Barry Odom, but I would love to see us hire Bo Pelini. Wonder if its possible.

Short term, this is a good thing for both Mizzou and MO State.
Long term, this is a good thing for Mizzou.

It's a bad thing for SMS actually.

If Stec were 10 years younger I would agree.
By the time Pinkle is done Stec will have aged out. We already have one senior citizen coaching and that's enough.

Mo State's football program will never be good because the school doesn't care to support it with ambitions to build it into something respectable.
People in the Springfield area love football and would love to watch good football here, but the school doesn't give a shite about the football program.
Making the students pay for that joke of a "renovation" to the stadium is pathetic. For being a so-called basketball school, Mo State can't even regularly field a competitive basketball team.
Other schools have passed Mo State by.
Please tell me how this Steckel hire is bad...

First it was promised that the former players would be part of the process, didn't happen.
The 4 former players/coaches who were interested were told no reason to apply
The alienation of the booster club and letterman association has become wider
Moats has not proven he is good evaluator of hiring coaches.
Stec is a great coach but not the guy to get what's done. Steckle won't be given a chance to win as the money won't come from the letterman and etc.
The school with this hire has shown it doesn't care.

Which is kinda my point. It doesn't matter who is hired because that person won't get school support which means there won't be fan support due to mediocrity.
Therefore, assuming this, I love the Steck hire because I may now go watch a game just to see Steck in a head coaching position.
I'm a Steck fan which means that I like him being here in Spfld.

I have talked to multiple guys last night and they like me were pissed.

It also bugs a lot of former guys that JW has some pull now.
The biggest mistake ever was Rowe hiring Ball and destroying any links from us. If Steckle reaches out it may repair but there are some agitated people.

None of this is a Steckel problem. Sounds like the issues are internal, which sucks for Steckel to start his first head coaching in a chaotic athletic department.
If any man can weather a departmental storm, it's Steckel. His military background and general demeanor will command respect. He won't put up with shite.

They had military discipline men in there already and they got sick of it. That's why I say it's a bad hire. It's not Steckle issue but he can't fix what needs to be fixed. If he was the next guy up he would have been perfect.
I'm not saying he can't coach or bad person. He just is a bad choice for this program at this time.

I think the school showed the didn't care when they let Plaster turn in to a dump. That field is the worst I've ever seen.

When they renamed it to Plaster a bunch of bad things happened.

Who would've been a good hire? The Webb City coach?

Roderique (sp) is the best HS coach in Missouri. Would love to see what he could do at the college level

No doubt. Sad thing is that when he decides to make the jump to college level, he'll probably do so in another state.

Sorry took so long to respond.
It should have either been Ware, Smith, or Bond. They were the guys the lettermen club and former players were wanting. As two of them were position coaches and one was a former QB and has proven he can recruit and coach. Again, I am not doubting Stec as a coach, it is a politics thing.
Rodrique will have to do what Kill did, start at MIAA, I believe he will be successful. I still shake my head at SMS when they passed on Kill for Ball, but understand the reasoning.
I hope Stec understands you have to go into KC, St Louis, Tulsa, Dallas for your core kids. Get 1 or 2 local guys on halfs or quarters and get lucky on a FBS transfer. Find Garden City or someplace like that and get 2 kids a year from there. Also do not try to make it feel like MU south, as that will turn some of the casual guy away.
