VOL fans aren't excited about 6-6, theyre excited about where this program is headed. And not just VOL fans see that. We are headed back to the top of the east which is the NORM. Hell, we still beat Carolina in the rebuilding years.

The UT-USC dynamic is an important indicator of where the Vols are headed. It seemed that there was always the top 3 in the east of UT, UF, and UGA...not necessarily in that order...from year to year. Suddenly in 2005, Fulmer let USC get their foot in the door, and although he won in 2006 and 2007, he lost badly to USC in 2008. Kiffin briefly restored order in the relationship and likely would have kept the Cocks at bay. But Dooley came along and dropped three straight, and USC had firmly supplanted UT in that top group of three in the east, even winning the division in 2010.

But now Jones has come along and taken UT's spot back. The Vols should be excited...switching places with USC is the first important step in he process of getting back to the top. Of course, Mizzou is now a wildcard in that whole dynamic. But UT should feel good about the direction they're headed.

Woah woah. UT has beaten one decent football team in the last two years. It's a bit early to crown them.
