UAB was built into the valuable asset it is today largely due to huge infusions of cash by the University of Alabama system. The campus is about 50 miles from Bryant Denny. The big mistake with UAB football was the move to Division 1. The resources and support to make a D-1 program successful just isn't there with the proximity to Tuscaloosa

I think that is where we just disagree. I agree UAB would never be Alabama, but I think they could do just fine in C-USA. Troy and South Alabama have both found their niche.

South Alabama has not found their niche. USA has terrible attendance and it is only going to get worse. USA will end up shutting the program too I believe

I have no problem with UAB playing football, but not when it is costing the State of Alabama 17.5 million a year. Why not go back to Division II and make the facility upgrades to move to DI over the next 5 to 7 years. Football at the DI level has to be a business, and a business that at some point can break even.
