Kiffen is a big difference but I also think that the team actually wants to play for Sims. He unites the entire team.

This is the biggest difference. Blake's teammates LOVE playing with him, and I don't think AJ had the same love from the entire team. That makes a huge difference.
Plus AJ was/is a douche.
