Every single aspect of the emotional side of the game. The intricate knowledge of the process of preparation, the toll it takes on you mentally, how you go about preparing and competing from day to day, the inner workings of a football team/family and how they interact with each other and how that affects them on a field...

I could go on and on and on, but you get the point. Someone who has never played can watch as much as they want - but they'll never "understand" the game.
