What's the difference, State was clearly a better team than Mizzou, why shouldn't they get another shot at the conference championship?

Why is it fair that only division champions can go to the conference championship, but anyone can get to the national championship? That's inconsistant and hypocritical. We should use a committee to pick our conference championship matchups if we want to be consistant.

Solid point. Some of the people in this thread have some strange need to criticize suggestions as if it's personally offensive. We're talking about how thing should be, not how they are.

The inconsistencies in how conference champs are determined is very relevant to the conversation.

People want balanced conferences, but the divisions have never been balanced. Why have divisions?

Indeed, at this point, why have conferences?

I hate college basketball's playoff structure, even conference champions don't automatically qualify. That renders the conference championship as completely meaningless. I really don't want to see college football go down that road. I still respect the SEC football champions if no one else does.

BTW, congratulations on another championship season, Alabama

Let's hope in the future this won't be meaningless.

Some play 8 games, the PAC has 9, the Big 12 doesn't have a championship game, and ND and BYU don't want to be in a conference. You can't force universities to do something they don't want to do. You can't force conferences to dissolve. No one finds such talk "offensive"...just pointless.
