Serious question: Why is Miami perceived as the better job. An SEC West team starts to look "on par" with Miami by virtue of its conference and division alone. If that SEC West team achieves championship level success and maintains it, does that job continue to be a "lesser" job in comparison to Miami?

Historical success, mostly. Granted, their history basically starts in the 1980s, but so does Florida's. So historical success plus recruiting grounds = attractive job. That's not the same as saying MSU isn't a good job, mind you. Just that Miami has a cachet that MSU doesn't.
