I have no idea what Obama's plan is, and I sure as shite did not watch a speech. Reform needs to happen in some capacity. Many of the illegals do a hell of a lot more for our economy than our ignorant entitlement class that look down on their nose at them.

It is true that these people do work that the vast majority of Americans will not do. Many people are too good for manual labor. Also, how about the illegals in the military, should they be deported too?

Basically, starting in the spring you can register with the gov't if you've been in the country for at least 5 years. You will be required to pay taxes. You don't become a citizen but you are allowed to stay and not be deported.

Better put:

quote:

Obama laid out the changes he is making to immigration laws without the consent of Congress. A key element of his plan is to instruct immigration authorities to prioritize expulsion action against gang members, felons and suspected terrorists rather than law-abiding undocumented parents of U.S. citizens and residents and others.
The changes will offer those who qualify the chance to stay temporarily in the country for three years, as long as they pass background checks and pay back taxes. But they will not be offered a path to eventual citizenship or be eligible for federal benefits or health care programs. And, in theory, the measures could be reversed by a future president.
