re: Bama "national championships" (with data)

Some will claim that there were none before this year since there was no legitimate playoff. So, is this year 1?

I would contend this year and future years with 4 teams are just as illegitimate. There should be a 32 team - or at least a 16 team - playoff to make it a true championship. Who's to say teams 5-16 couldn't be the best team in December and January?
