I always thought it should be an 8 team playoff. Take the top 8 teams with no conference auto bids.
Opening round on NYE and NYD at the BCS bowls
semifinals 7-10 days later (depending on when the next sat is)
finals on the saturday of MLK weekend

Why not 32 ? why not go back to 2 ?
Better yet, scrap this dumbe azz committee, keep 4 teams, and use the BCS mertic.
