Both rankings make perfect sense

No, they don't. Both LSU and aTm were dominated in both losses this year. LSU is improving and may climb into the top 12 by seasons end. aTm has no business being ranked on any list other than shittiest FBS teams.

They do, and there is ample math to back it up. It's perfectly logical. Just because you don't get it doesn't mean that it doesn't make sense. Saying that these rankings do not make sense is no different from saying the same of the quadratic formula.

If you take winning percentage, don't count FCS wins, and weigh the old BCS SOS formula equally to winning percentage, here are your top ten:
1 Mississippi State
2 Florida State
3 Auburn
4 Mississippi
5 Alabama
6 Oregon
7 Marshall
8 Notre Dame
9 Nebraska
10 Louisiana State

And this is before you account for quality wins. So yeah, these rankings make perfect, mathematical sense.
