this is simply a HYPOTHETICAL I promise. But IF we end up winning that certain game in Dallas in January....how will our fanbase remember Mason?
Tennessee is a good example. Tee followed Peyton and did what PM never could. Yet Peyton is the one that's revered by the fanbase and has streets named after him and all that jazz. Mason followed Murray who set almost every record in UGA history. He's not flashy and damn sure won't be breaking any records. He has a dominant run game and an improving defense behind him. So IF IF IF we end up doing that thing......how do yall think he'll end up being remembered in UGA lore? Will his name go down in history or be overlooked?

Buck Belue.
Well yes and no.
Buck, overall, was honestly a really shitty QB. Like pretty bad. But he had a couple things going for him. Obviously he was the QB in 1980 when we won the national title so people remember that. He was part of the most famous play in UGA history. He also came off the bench in 1978 and threw a pass to amp arnold to beat tech. So he's got a few big name plays to his name, despite overall being a really below average QB.
Mason overall has been a much, MUCH better QB than buck.

I can't imagine winning a NC game with a non-running qb going 1-8 passing. Although I haven't looked into it I think they were probably much more lax in letting the clock tick after plays back then than they are now. The game has changed in so many ways in the coaching of qb's at a young age and the sophistication of the offenses. Mason may be much more skilled than Buck but he is just a game manager in the same way. A.J. McCarron is another comparison in your scenario.

Belue helped us win that USCe game in 1980 too. Underrated performance.

do you have his stats from that game? I'm not doubting you...but to my knowledge I don't think he did. I mean we scored 13 points overall, and we all remember the 1 TD herschel had..which means we scored 6 other points the whole game.

I'm sure his stats weren't that great but he made a couple of big 3rd down conversions late in the game with his arm iirc. Watched it on the SECn not too long ago

Let's get through that dumpster fire Florida first. We've clearly gone into Jax many years with the better team. Richt is still Richt.

The years we've gone to jax with a better team:
02- lost, but they had a guy at QB who legit shoudlv'e won the heisman the year before and still had a pretty damn good team
03- lost, we abandoned the run game late
04- won
05- technically, sorta..but we didn't have our best player. Without him we arguably weren't better than them. We still made it a game
07- won
11- won
12- won
13- won
I don't get the stupid arse "richt gonna richt" thing. People want to pretend to be funny on internet message boards I guess. Most of our losses the last 2 to 3 decades have been because UF has had a much better team. Recently when we've been better, we've won. Last year we had a much better team and were up by 20 before chilling out like we did yesterday. If we have gurley back I bet we beat the everloving shite out of florida. They are a horrible football team.

That T. Edwards drop broke my fricking heart. I think that's tainted many dawg hearts. We were the best team in the country that year.

Put me in the " stupid arse" group.
You like stats and shite. How many times has Richt let off the gas in his tenure?

Yes, I agree we were. But we also coudlnt' stop the screen pass to save our fricking lives. DJ Shockley also threw a pick 6. We also had an INT run back called back bc it was a "forward lateral".
People have selective memories. Did you realize they had 340 yards passing (to our 168) and outgained us by 90 total yards? They also had 7 more minutes TOP and we went 0-13 on 3rd down conversions. But yeah.....let's all blame terrance for losing..

Pretty good analogy if you ask me but Mason still has a ways to go to even reach Tee Martin level.

Terrance was a class act, a 4 year starter and a DGD. He got so much hate after that drop that a billboard was put up to thank him and show him dawgnation still supported him. But heheard the footsteps and dropped an easy catch. It's a cold world and a bottom line business. I love Chipper Jones but I was at his last game in the WC playoffs and his two errors cost us the game (and that bullshite infield fly call). Gotta call a spade a spade.
