From his website:

EDWARD T. M. GARLAND ESQ.

Edward T. M. Garland Esq. practicing in personal injury and criminal defense.

From Superlawyers website:

Practice Areas: Criminal Defense: White Collar (50%), Personal Injury - General: Plaintiff (30%), Personal Injury - Products: Plaintiff (20%)

On his website, he lists his specialties as personal injury and criminal defense.

On superlawyers website, it states that 50% of his cases are criminal defense. 30% personal injury general, and 20% personal injury products.

Based on this information, 2+2=4. Considering this case breakdown, I would say this would be more for criminal defense. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck.

It's not a stretch to think that he was hired for criminal defense.
