I am always torn about news like this. I feel sadness as well as anger. Having lost family members to disease and accidents, it is incredibly hard. The family of those who take their own life are not only experiencing the loss of the loved one, they are haunted by "why couldn't I stop it from happening?", "could I have done more?".

It is a true tragedy for the family and wish a meaningful long term recovery for them.

To anyone out there, if you are so depressed that taking your life crosses your mind, remember that you are leaving all the sorrow and heartache you are carrying on your loved ones shoulders. Your problems may be gone, but you only transferred them to your friends and family. Get help instead.

He must have left a note or something for them to automatically rule it suicide. Why not consider accidental if found only with gunshot to chest? Could have been cleaning a gun or something else and it discharged. Has to be more to the story...

I'd like to say that I've never thought of taking my life, but the thing that kept me from doing so during my last 2 deployments (really rough years) was knowing what it would do to my wife. Conversely, I knew that if it was my day to go that she would be taken care of.

Sometimes if a particularly large amount of shite rains down on you, you get overwhelmed, and sometimes wonder if things would be better off without you.

I don't know what pushed him, but everyone's trigger point (pun not intended) is different.
