The threat of Manziel to run on play action opened up a ton of lanes and yards for Ben Malena, Christine Michael, and Trey Williams.

Even with Manziel as our leading rusher Ben Malena had more yards and carries by a wide margin in both 2012 and 2013 than our current leading rusher (Trey Williams) does.

No

We have never committed to the run game since Sumlin has been here. I think his philosophy is rested backs who can block well should rotate and get breakaway opportunities.

Personally I think you need to get ken guy unto a rhythm with 20+ carries a game before you can see what they can do.

I believe our RBs are averaging over 6 yards a carry this year. Run the damn ball!!!

I was hoping against hope when we came out in the Rhino on 4th and 1 that we were going to fake the handoff and send Kenny on a naked bootleg.

Disagree as to the relevance of Manziel to this years offensive problems. JFF made people pay for getting beat deep. Hill has not done this yet but just a handful of times. If he threw a deep ball well and hit receivers anywhere close to in stride (or let them run under them) then he would have another 12 to 14 TD passes of 50+ yards this year.

While we like to say we have a balanced attack we are definitely a pass first offense and the passing game sets up the run. I don't think any team fears covering us one on one right now. We just don't go over the top well at all. Probably the worst deep threat that Sumlin has had including his years at UH.

Way too many passes thrown behind receivers that results in them slowing down or stopping to catch the ball (if they catch it). We aren't getting catches across the middle with speed.

If Hill throws accurately and hits receivers in stride and they catch the ball, then the running game will open back up.

Yup. It kept them honest. If State dropped that many linebackers in to coverage against Manziel he would have had 300 yards rushing.
