Miss St. presents some different challenges for this defense. Who are you looking for to step up in this game?

My first thought was Howard Matthews. He need to carry forward that great play from the end of last game

Julien Obioha and Myles Garrett. Will be interesting to see them man the edges when Dak runs the QB option.

Mastro will be big in containing Prescotts running ability

Watts and Garrett.

Matthews was great vs Arky because he always reads run. They just played into his hands.

Played terribly against Arkansas. Hope he can step it up this game.

He made a couple big plays in coverage late in the game. Broke up a pass in OT and another on a third down in the second half I believe. I have hated on him here a lot but he was big last week

Yup. I don't think we win if he plays at the same level this week

Howard has always been inconsistent. When he's on, his level of play is outstanding though. For all the hate he gets (and I try not to post such but I'm sure I have at some point), he has had his share of incredibly memorable moments over the years. This week was right up there with his best game as an Ag.

And the idea that you can discount it because Arky runs so much, it's actually quite the opposite. They run so much but when they throw they count on you over-committing. Watts and Mastro both really struggled at times with the assignment conflicts Arkansas presents (though not as badly as Claiborne and Askew did last year). Baggs, Howard and Deshazor also all had their troubles last go round but did not this year. Experience matters.

I am going to go a different route.

It'll be Ivan Robinson or Alonzo Williams.

With Day gone due to suspension, we can really screw up their blocking scheme on the interior.

True. If Shaan Washington can shoot the gaps like he did against Arky then we have a chance to slow them down. I didn't include him at first because I was thinking of the more unique reads that our safeties are going to be faced with
