I'm a former club sport athlete too and hate this decision as well. On the one hand, they say they won't allow use of trademarked logos like the script A because they don't want club sports being confused with varsity sports. I'm actually ok with that. But then they say that club sports will all have to become uniform: only allowed to use official UA colors, only allowed to use official (i.e. generic) UA club sports logo, etc... I say if the women's ultimate frisbee team wants to wear neon green shirts, then let them. If clubs want to keep using their old logos instead of the generic one, then let them. Club sports are different from varsity sports. They're less mainstream, less corporate, more independent. They've created unique identities in some cases over decades. That shouldn't be stamped out because of some non-existent threat to the Athletic Department's image.

Especially considering UA doesn't hold any TM over houndstooth, yet is forbidding the club teams from using it.

Like someone said in the comments section of that article, what is the difference between the club teams and organizations like the Million Dollar Band or the Science Club using the logo? None.
