It's really no different than an alcoholic who stops drinking. Not one of them will tell you they just stopped craving alcohol one day. They simply came a point where they believed the consequences outweighed the desire to drink.
If the choice is gay sex now or Heaven later, and you truly believe those to be your options, that isn't really a choice at all.

No doubt. To that end you'll jump through mental hoops to keep the temptation at bay. I'm no fan of the idea of denying thy self for some belief structure, but if it adds something positive to their lives who am I to decide what is best?
