The LSU football program has been so good ... for so long ... that the bulk of the LSU fanbase has become psychotically delusional.
They are completely incapable of feeling thankful for a 10-win season, because they are utterly-convinced that they are simply ENTITLED (every year) to be competing for divisional, conference and national titles.
For the same reason, they seem to be completely unable to grasp that another team's fans (e.g., A&M) would be quite happy with a 9-4 season and successful bowl appearance and would be ECSTATIC with a season record of 11-2 and a fifth-place finish in the national polls.
In the minds of the collective LSU fanbase, those results are a failure of near-Biblical proportion. That sort of season is something outside the natural laws of the known universe.
For this reason, I am hoping that LSU fails to bowl-qualify this year.
I do not generally engage in schadenfreude, and I do not dislike the LSU football program. Such a result will be disappointing and sad for the young men playing the game (which I hate to see), but I hope that such a season would bring some much-needed perspective to the unrealistic LSU fan base.

Too far, and too mean. All it will take to reset LSU expectations is Michigan making the right hire in the offseason, followed by the Tigers hiring someone a rung or two below what their fans expect.

It's funny when football fans try to be psychiatric experts, but I will go ahead and note your obsession here.
