I would classify him as a top 5 OC who should never be promoted to HC. most of the best offensive coaches I know of in college football are headcoaches.

Sample size too small. Does Kiffin shoulder ANY blame for offensive deficiencies when he was a head coach? They were so bad he got fired on the USC team bus...

I have a question and not trying to be an arse; I just don't know. Did Kiffin call the plays as a head coach at Oakland, Tennessee, and USC? Even, if you exclude NFL, this would help answer your question. If no he obviously had elite talent at USC as an official OC there and at Bama for 4 games. I think he was a Co-OC with Sark then as well. Otherwise there is not much body of work, unless you count his HC playcalling if any.
