The Tigers' defense, however, may boast even more future NFL selections with junior linebacker Kris Frost perhaps the most intriguing.

As it turns out, Frost played a critical role in helping to "freeze" Kansas State's quarterback Jake Waters and the normally run-heavy Wildcats. Entering the game, Kansas State was averaging 236 rushing yards per game. Against Frost and the Tigers, the Wildcats ran for just 40.

Auburn clearly felt that the key to slowing down the Wildcats' running attack was containing Waters in the pocket. As such, Auburn frequently moved Frost and fellow junior linebacker Cassanova McKinzy to the edges in a "Bear" front with five defenders at the line of scrimmage, effectively penning in the gutty quarterback.

While the strength to hold up on the perimeter played a key role in this game, it was the athleticism and improved awareness Frost showed that could to his stock warming with scouts.

Gutsy performance all around by the back 7. While the stats sheet won't show it, Frost and Cass played quality downs all night long

Big step up by Frost IMO. Overall I feel very good about our 'front 6.'

The NFL likes Frost's athletic ability but until last night he's struggled at LB. The position didn't come as instinct to him in earlier games and he was out of position.

He had a hell of a game last night. It's about time!
