When you look at State's D, that front 7 easily looks better than LSU's. MSU is certainly bigger and stronger. The thing that I can't fathom is how such an immensely talented D can give up 59 points to LSU. Inexperience? Missing a few key pieces?
Okay, fast forward one year and that group gives up 34 to UAB! Why is State's tremendously talented D giving up so much?
I suspect that MSU's defense is getting a bit over hyped here. Yes, they are talented, big and strong. So were guys like Barrin Simpson, Ashley Cooper, Pig Prather. Under Joe Lee Dunn, you would have thought those guys were locks for the NFL. But once they got evaluated, public perception turned out to be flawed. They were good players at the collegiate level. I suspect to discover the same on Saturday about some of MSU's local heros. The only question is which players deserve their hype and which are just reflecting the glow of the true stars.
