How bad is Memphis rush hour traffic?

Driving someone up to the airport and dropping him off around 430. I was hoping to hit the major liquor stores around town for craft beer I can't get in Mississippi but I don't want to get caught up in crazy rush hour

It's pretty congested but not too ridiculous during the week. If it were a Friday, I'd say take a rain check. You'll probably be ok though. It's definitely no where near the shite show Atlanta is. Check traffic reports though. Wrecks happen all the time on 240 and can really frick up your day.

Been many years since I lived there. Poplar is always full of traffic. 55 and 40 was a mess( not sure about now. Everyone get their license out of a cracker jack box.

Yeah, they don't have those there.
Or insurance. There's a couple of them running around with two of my rifles right now too. (got stolen out of my truck along with my truck at my gf's house a few years ago.)

Meh depends on where you are and which direction you are going
Poplar is a shitshow no matter what but I get off work at 4:00 everyday and 240 heading south/west (not sure? I work at 240/poplar and it's headed towards Landmass
) is fine. Coming the other way however is always backed up. 55 shouldn't be a problem
In the airport area around 430 will likely have some traffic but not to bad

I work near the airport; after you drop him off go to Cash Saver in Midtown on Madison Avenue, they have all kinds of craft beer. They sell growlers in there. It looks like a really shitty grocery store (it is), but it has the best beer selection in Memphis. Traffic will suck in this area at that time of day

Sounds like Bev Hart doing a commercial during Ben Ferguson's radio show.

The traffic is nothing... If you're used to ATL traffic

My bad. I love Memphis, and one of the few places I would leave NOLA for, but they have some of the worst drivers I have seen.
But back to the OP, others will know better, but wouldn't Shelby Dr by the airport, be a pretty good area, where traffic won't be too bad. Or maybe Winchester.

Is that Bev from the Wake-up Crew? Is she still on Rock 103?
I quit listening to them when Bad Dog passed away. He was a good friend of my family, and really the only reason I listened to Rock 103 much after Drake and Zeke left for 98.1

Same Bev Hart, different gig. She co-hosts a morning talk show on 98.9 I think. All news/talk.

Traffic isn't bad. It's the drivers that make you want to take a panzer to work everyday.

beaver, you're in Oxford right?
Take 6 to 55 N. Get on 240(exit after Shelby drive) then you will start seeing the exits for the airport. It's going to be the quickest way.

She'll probably be flying in to Wilson Air, so the main airport should be ok. They also reported she would be taking a helicopter to St. Jude, so there shouldn't be any issue with the traffic caused by her
