In general, in any given year:
Notre Dame is a lock anytime they finish with 1 loss.
SEC is good as long as Alabama, LSU, or Auburn emerge. Probably A&M, Georgia, South Carolina or Florida. Arkansas and Tennessee are strong maybes. After that, gets real iffy.
ACC is safe as long as Florida St is able to come out. Miami, Louisville, Clemson, VT fall into the "maybe" category.
Big 12- Oklahoma or Texas are in. Otherwise there will be lots of sweating.
Pac 12- Oregon or USC would be locks. Stanford is probable.
B1G- Ohio St, Penn St or Michigan would get a big push. Michigan St or Wisconsin would get a look.
Teams like BYU, Boise and whover's in the former Big East would get a chance if undefeated, depending on the rest of the world. If they are fighting for the last spot with a 2 loss VT, Wisconsin, Arizona St, Kansas St or similar, they have a good shot.
