Sure they did. Not only do we know they were white dudes, we know which white dudes they were. And once those dudes were arrested, the demonstrations calmed down considerably. Obviously, correlation isn't causation. But it's something.

To be clear, it wasn't whites looting. But there were more than a few white agitators in the crowd.
