Gus innovate his offense and helped being in this hunh craze. Plus Gus innovated the wildcat which was adopted by nfl teams.

Malzahn is very innovative and is very adept at adapting to change. However, while I wouldn't say Sumlin is more innovative than Malzahn, the wildcat was not Malzahn's innovation. In college, Bill Snyder was running the wildcat at Kansas State back in the late 90's...and then Urban Meyer was doing it at UF before Malzahn came to Arkansas...Malzahn incorporating it with McFadden was brilliant and led to a breakout year for him, but the wildcat existed before his arrival to the college ranks. I also remember Bama running it a time or 2 in the 1999 SEC Championship game against UF with Freddie Milons...

As for the NFL, Minnesota had some direct snap plays designed for David Palmer back in the 90's as well...

And the famous two point conversion when we tied Tennessee in 1993 was essentially Palmer in the wildcat, racing for the corner.
