Elevator and Nick Marshall put away Arkansas
Nick Marshall started the game on the bench and Auburn responded in turn by actually looking pretty great. Jeremy Johnson threw for 243 yards and 2 touchdowns completing 12 of his 16 passes. As whispers of a potential QB controversy floated around the Twittersphere, Nick Marshall came in to start the 2nd half and the Auburn offense indeed found its groove. While his direct production was minimal, the running game dominated a sluggish second half Arkansas defense. The bottom line is that Marshall is the man in Malzahn’s offense, but it’s nice to know the guy in waiting can get the job done.
More importantly, we can crown a victor in the little feud between Malzahn and Bielema as Gus clearly got the last laugh when the Arkansas coaching staff got stuck in a press box elevator during halftime preventing them from meeting with their team. The results of “elevator-gate” certainly speak for themselves considering the Razorbacks were held to 51 yards and zero points in the 2nd half. We don’t know for sure if it was Gus holding the “door close” button during halftime, but we’re going to assume it was.

frick Bert! He always has an excuse for why he lost to Auburn, last year it was Swain faking an injury.

To be fair he didn't use it as an excuse in his post game presser.

to be fair he flat out lied about it in his presser. from what I understand the truth isnt that they were stuck in the elevator but were pissed because AU coaches didnt hold the elevators for them as is custom. what he didnt say was taking the elevator takes you WAY out of the way when heading to the visitors locker and visiting coaches always take the stairs. sounds to me like it was just another of his fat arse coaches making excuses for being derelict. typical flagship type shite

You sound upset. We won man just relax
Apparently there are multiple sides to the story but from what people that work the press box level said they were legitimately stuck.
Either way Bret said that's not an excuse because they conducted their meetings over the phone.
Either way Auburn won

1. Yes they flat out got stuck in the North elevator. That elevator stopped working before the game started but was thought to be fixed before halftime. There are 2 elevators from the press box, North and South. AU staff always uses the South because it's 10 yards from them. Visitors are on the opposite end of the Press box and use the North because it is 10 yards from them. In hindsight the Arky staff should have probably been placed on the South elevator right after the AU staff went down since the North elevator had known problems.
There is no custom to holding elevators as each staff uses a different one and visitor staffs have never taken stars the many times I have worked in the press box.
Regardles...Auburn still would have whooped that arse whether the rest of the Arky staff made it to the locker room or not!!

the custom is to park the elevators at the press box level and hold them there 2 minutes before the half and end of game. the elevators were legitimately not running is why they werent brought back up & parked for the coaches. I have been told by AU and Arkansas sources alike that they were not stuck in the elevator, that was a misunderstanding. the elevator was stuck on the lower level and not waiting on them when they got ready to go down. if thats truly not the case I have been lied to by people with no reason to do so.

Well you were cuz my boss was in the elevator with them when it got stuck. She told me about it and how much their coaches were understandably frustrated and cursing like crazy. If they never got on the North elevator then they could have taken 1 minutes to go to the south elevator and get down to their locker in plenty of time to make halftime adjustments. They never went down the South elevator. They got stuck on the North. By the time they got out of the stuck North elevator there was only about 8 minutes left in halftime so they then were escorted back up to the press box using the South elevator because the Arky team was either on or on it's way back to the field. If they had never gone down using the North elevator then there would have been no need to use the South elevator to go back up. No biggie on the Arky or AU sources not having the correct story. They probably had second hand info and not 1st hand account like me or my boss.
