Your anger is making it hard for you to go about this conversation in a positive way. You bumped a month old thread with a pretty long post because you've been unable to handle yourself in this discussion. You seem to do the response thread thing a lot.

What?

Much of our income tax goes toward paying the interest on the debt, interest that exists because currency is loaned to the government instead of being created in the treasury interest free.

Your comment that you're okay with this because our debt has afforded us the strongest military is irrelevant. Can you see why?

Yeah, cracking jokes about Marvel vs. DC is showing just how furious I am.

Look, ST, I've given you the reasons twice, in bold, in quotes and demonstrated it a couple times. I'm not arguing about your stupid post in this post which is about hate speech.

Please stop telling me to stay on topic while hijacking a thread, frick's sake.

You bumped your own thread for the same reasons, I'm guessing?

Please, stop making yourself look so unbelievably stupid.

Serious question that I've always wondered. Why is this allowed to happen? There had to be a benefit of it to sell it to the people in government and potentially the public at large. What was the stated benefit of the Federal Reserve at the time of its creation?

I was taught the Fed was set up to eliminate the bank runs and panics back in the 1800s and early 1900s, but what was the purpose of taking the creation of currency away from the government and placing the responsibility with the Fed? Was that an integral part of controlling panics?

I have a cursory knowledge of how money is lent in relation to the creation of new currency (10X the new currency created can be lent if I remember correctly, I may not) but couldn't that also be done with the government creating the currency?
