GBA-Prague's prospect David Pekárek (SF 6-6, 1996) has an offer from Auburn's basketball program according sources
There was talk of AU looking to Europe to fill things out. I thought it would have been someone taller though. Here's a scouting report.
quote:

David Pekarek – 1m99 – SG – 1996 – GBA Academy Prague

David Pekarek played an excellent tournament and any mid-major still looking for some firepower in their back court should get in touch with this player. Pekarek can either score from behind the arc, with a very quick shot and great mechanics, or attack the rim and finish in the paint where his good size and correct athletic abilities help him. This helps him as well to grab a good amount of rebounds out of which he likes to push the ball immediately full court and go all the way for the score. His ball handling is quite good for a player of his size and he can change directions easily and finish accordingly when attacking the basket. The 1996 born has a good court-vision that allows him to find open team mates on a regular basis and you could even imagine him playing PG during moments if needed.

Pekarek’s main strength though is his three-point shot as he can score in series from behind the arc, especially from the corner. He remains though a bit streaky but the intensive training at the GBA Academy will certainly help him to stabilize his jump shot over the rest of the season. The Class of 2015 guard should be able to become an immediate contributor on the mid-major level.

It's premature, but can really see him coming to Auburn to play under Pearl and co.

Is there any indication on which weekend he'll be there?

It helps too that we can point to Mason and show how we improved some areas of his game...for KC I don't know.

An article I read earlier said he wanted to have all his visits wrapped up and a decision made by mid May so he can enroll for summer and get an early start. I've been told UConn is our main competition for him. He likes Arizona too but he isn't going to get the minutes that he wants there.

If Stanley Johnson goes pro, he would have some serious playing opportunities. They would have lost all their wing players

He wouldn't be a sure shot starter and would be consistently rotated out even if he did start. Compare that to AU where he likely would be one of our key players

Josh Jackson (Detriot, MI), the #1 ranked 2016 kid, has added AU to his list of favorites. He and his Mom are really enamored w/ Bruce. Kansas seems to be the CB favorite.

Plus, Hoke posted this:
"I spoke with a source on Auburn's end and they believe they are very much in the hunt for Josh Jackson, the nation's No. 1 recruit for 2016.

Jackson and his mother are tentatively planning to visit in July."

I remember reading something from Skip on him back in March. He said his mom had pretty tight ties with Under Armor and he believes he will sign with an UA school in the end. FWIW we are the only UA school on his list and Tony Jones has a lot of connections in Detroit where Jackson grew up. This could be a program changer.

Purifoy is turning heads at the Kentucky Derby BB Festival and is in a good position to win the Festival's MVP award.. He is also in the finals of the Dunk Contest and had a good showing in the 3 pt competition. I've said it before and I'm going to say it again. This kid is the truth and would have been a top 25 recruit if he played for the right AAU team.

if we could somehow get Jackson to go along with Purifoy and get Wiley, we could compete with anyone.

If we could somehow pull off Langford + Jackson, we could be a damn impressive team. We need Barkley and Cam to do a bump and run in Detroit

A lot of these star kids love the idea of playing together. Duke is one of Langfords favorites and a lot of the reason is because they're selling the idea to 2016 recruits of putting together a dream team.
If Purifoy and Spencer come in and show promise for this team then we can sell Langford and Jackson on playing together with a solid supporting cast and maybe playing with Austin Wiley if they aren't one and done, that could go a long way in recruiting all three.

His family are as much if not more so enamored w/ Duke & pushing him there so you have to sell the whole family not just Josh.Langford.

Josh Jackson quotes LINK
quote:

Auburn, my mother and I have been in contact recently...They want to develop me as a player and take care of me. They seem like good people and that may be something I want to be around."

"Auburn has a great coaching staff that has gained my trust and my family's," Jackson said. "I can't say that about many schools, there's something special about them.

"I know Coach Pearl and Coach Jones from when they were at Tennessee, and they were getting elite talent and they were ranked inside the top five. I see what those coaches can do with a guy like me in their program."

"One thing they do tell me is of all the programs I'm considering, they've all had guys come through there and do what I'm planning to do," Jackson said. "At Auburn, if I did something special, I be one of the first to accomplish that at Auburn. Cam Newton has his own statue at Auburn, they like greatness.

I wonder if the main driver behind those statues was for recruiting purposes...so we could point to them and tell a recruit that could be you. It was funny seeing an image of Cam walking by his own statue on the way to class.

I wouldn't mind starting a basketball legends walk of some sort around the arena if we start having good teams.

I don't know if the Chuck walk of Person and Barkley would be as much a draw

No. JJ is not that smart when it comes to recruiting. It was solely to celebrate our history through our greatest players.
