A couple of studies have shown body cameras reduce both excessive force complaints and use of police force. Seems like a win/win. If a police department says that they can't afford them, have a bake sale. The public will probably pay for them.

I agree and it is clear why it does that. If it is on video then its harder to make up lies about what happened.

The police can afford them, they just would have to stop buying some of the toys. I listed a few different ways of funding these type of projects in another thread

Ellisville just bought them for their entire force. $250 a camera. Total cost of about $7,000.00. My kid's team raises that much at a mouse race.
