If I was a police officer, I would definitely invest in a GoPro -- of course I'm not corrupt in any way so it wouldn't be too difficult for me.
I just think a GoPro would save police officers from long drawn out processes and save their arse in cases where brutality was not exercised but claimed.
I understand the not wanting to always be filmed and the fear of repercussions from video if you get disgruntled with the captain one day and bad mouth him but that is why restrictions on when video can be accessed come into place.

I'm even considering buying one for Mexico just in case I get extorted by police or robbed. I have no idea why anyone would be against it, especially when you could absolve/exonerate yourself immediately and unilaterally. Put it on, don't do anything corrupt.
It's really simple.

A couple of studies have shown body cameras reduce both excessive force complaints and use of police force. Seems like a win/win. If a police department says that they can't afford them, have a bake sale. The public will probably pay for them.

I'm sure there are more than a few that don't want them but every cop I know (and I work with about 40 and know probably close to that many more) LOVE body cams. I know several that have bought their own if their agency doesn't provide them.
They aren't worried about getting caught badmouthing the boss. Nobody's going to sit around and watch video every day. They're worried about ending up in a situation exactly like the one in Missouri and they know the camera will save their arse.
