She sent a stupid message that she intended to be private. There is no law against making a stupid mistake like this or being bigoted in this way.

This slope could get real slippery when people start examining every student's social media posts for offensive comments.

Or do we just punish the one's published in the news?

I am sure there is a university student handbook or code of conduct that covers this and if she violated it, they can remove her from school.

Oh, I totally agree with you. But welcome to the 21st century, where a private conversation can force you to lose a 2 billion dollar sports franchise. This girl's career is essentially over because of this stupid snapchat.
