South Carolina has been highly ranked on defense the past few years and has top notch defensive coordinator in Lorenzo Ward. However, they lost Jadeveon Clowney and two other defensive linemen that were their leading sackers. They really don’t have an edge rusher right now that opponents have to game plan for. In fact, the Gamecocks are talking about scheme more than personnel in terms of generating a pass rush which is never a good sign. South Carolina also lost both starting cornerbacks too so they may have to limit their coverages in order to compensate for their lack of experience.
