I think Miles believed the option was the way to go. I don't think he wanted Lee to become 2008 Lee. He wanted to do just enough to let the defense/special teams win. It backfired when Jefferson failed miserably. It wasn't just the QB play, the OL was terrible too.

Basically this. He knew LSU had no chance if they turned it over. He was hoping Jefferson would have made plays with his feet which were there for the taking. JJ was just indecisive and Bama made him pay.

Miles still could have made in-game adjustments. Halftime adjustments. Something. There was no response whatsoever which was really inexcusable. I'm a Miles fan but that game was just really inexcusable. I'll never understand his stubborn attachment to Jefferson.
