I live in NW Florida. Eight years ago there wasn't 1/20th of the bama car tags, bama window decals, and bama car flags flying that I see now. I find it hard to believe the population of bama fans, moving into the area, has increased 20 fold over the last seven years.

It's a sea of some generic dark pink over there now. Braves As and dark pink everywhere. They should consider moving back to Alabama IMO.

While I doubt you only saw 5% of the flags and stickers in the panhandle that you do now, I don't think the article in the OP was measuring the size of the bandwagon fan base of any of the teams. My impression was that he was looking at the core fanbase, the fans that show up to good and bad games, travel well, etc. If I remember correctly, we still had a multi-year wait list for season tickets even during the Shula years.

Any team that is as successful as Bama has been the last few years is going to have bandwagoners all over the country, no way to avoid it.
