Think of how many players in the league DON'T come from the Power 5 conferences.

That's a very good point. You might see something in the way of a development league form if the NFL feels like they don't have as much talent as they used to. Then, if you're an athlete, what would you rather do, go to college, or try out and make a developmental squad w/ a direct in to an NFL team. Lots of possibilities out there.
