Right now, we have 9 players on our roster who've started at least 7 games on defense in their Georgia career. At this point last year, we had 3 (Swann, Garrison Smith and Herrerra).

I'm no football guru or anything, but that's huge. If anyone thinks that we won't be markedly better on defense this season, they either haven't been paying attention or haven't been a Dawgs fan for very long. Even if Grantham had come back, we'd have been a lot better. But with Pruitt, we're about to take the frick off, buddy!!!

I agree and have made this point many times.

Fact is, unless you edit your post to say "frick grantham" then nobody gonna give a frick.

Well, your argument goes out the window Rig when Grantham had the most talented D we have seen in a long time (2012) and still shite the bed.

FIFY.

OP is correct though. Having so many returning players on defense is huge in terms of helping out Pruitt as he tries to turn this ship around.

better? Maybe, simply due to returning experience and talent.

A lot better? Put it this way...our defense will be better each and every single year under pruitt than it was last year with Grantham. We haven't fielded a truly great defense since BVG.

During the second half of 2012, when it mattered the most, we had one of the best defenses in the country. Look up the stats and do the math.

350 yds rushing and over 30 points in the SECG says you are incorrect. The only good team we played in the 2nd half of 2012 wore us out.

Florida wasn't a good team? We played them in the second half of 2012.

Granted their offense was starting the epic decline known as 2013 t

In the biggest 25ish minutes that UGA has played in in 30 years, and with an 11 point lead, the defense lost us the national title. There is no debate about that. What good offenses did they face down the stretch? UF's was really bad, but to our credit our defense was superb. AU won 3 games that year. Georgia Southern and tech? Zzzzz.

Bama was really the only formidable offense we faced in the second half of the season, and grantham let our fatass nose guards stay in the game instead of subbing someone, anyone else in and let them run for over 300 yards.

What math would that be? Tell me what decent offenses our illustrious D shut down in the 2nd half of 2012. We only played one good offense and that was Bama. They ran our D in the ground.

And he kept our best run stuffing linebacker (Herrera) on the bench for the majority of that game.

bama wore everybody out that year cause they were fricking stacked...im not defending the grantham led defense...but your argument is invalid since we lost that game in the last few seconds cause the offesne couldnt convert...not cause bama wore out the D

And we weren't stacked? We had 7-8 future NFL'ers on that Defense. We had one of the most prolific offenses in college football. We had an 11 point lead at one time in the second half and we were up 3 with 3 minutes to play, but the defense spit the bit. But you blame the offense? Pretty much makes every post of yours is invalid. Stick to Braves baseball. Nobody reads that thread anyway.

Dear God...you don't actually fault the offense for that loss do you?

We held our last 5 opponents of the regular season to season lows in points. Gave up TWO TOUCHDOWNS IN OUR LAST 3 SEC GAMES. Even though the Alabama game sucked, it wasn't as if Bama went for 10,000 yards on us. McCarron had one of his 2 or 3 least productive games of his career in that game.

YES the statistics would say that we had an elite defense in the second half of 2012, statistically one of the best in America.

I like how the one guy conveniently left out Ole Miss while making his argument, while the other guy failed to mention that Florida scored 38 points on FSU a few weeks later. And Georgia Southern ran all over Alabama a few years ago and how Georgia Tech scored an arse ton of points that season. And how we shut out Auburn Jordan-Hare Stadium, which was incredibly sweet.

..yes i blame the offense...they were holding the ball at the end...and couldnt "finish the drill"...you cant expect a defense to continually make stops over and over on a team like 2012 bama...they were going to score...period...we just needed to score more...and couldn't...blaming the defense is just bandwgon thinking cause that is what everybody around here is doing with the CTG defenses...think outside the box that is being built for you...the offense couldn't convert when they had the chance...IN THAT PARTICULAR GAME...

...and I will continue to post as much as I have been for 7 years...if you are gonnna sling mud...you can eat a dick...wanna talk football...then do so..

by the way..Thomaston is a shithole

We score 28 on Bama, The 3rd time that much had been scored on them since 2009 and it's somehow the offenses fault. While our defense gives up 350 rushing yards.

When did they continually stop Bama's offense? We were up 3 with 3 minutes to play. They needed ONE stop and couldn't do it. Bama's D needed one stop with 12 seconds left and they got it.

Thomaston is a shithole....and someone's a shithead.
