Oh I remember them. Bettis was a senior and it was senior day at ND. Y'all were celebrating the 300th game in your school's history and were slaughtering us 31-7. Many fans on both sides remember zoning out, falling asleep, and generally giving up on the game thinking it was over. Then something happened right before half time - Tennessee blocked a FG and ran it back for a TD making it 31-14, a tiny bit of light in an otherwise pitch black tunnel could be seen, and so began one of most epic comebacks and dramatic finishes of all time: The Miracle at South Bend.
