Most of us are asking the same question.

No idea, because 9 conference games only makes sense due to the recent addition of A&M and Mizz.

then why won't LSU vote for 9 conference games?
The administration doesn't poll the fanbase before they make these decisions.

Well #1 you're ignoring 3 way ties. LSU, A&M and Bama all beat each other in 2012. LSU and A&M lost to Florida so Bama, who had a very weak eastern division slate (as usual) won the division so yes, it has happened before.
Thank you for answering the question and looking that up. That's the only instance I can find that would give LSU an argument that Alabama had an advantage. A fluke 3 way tie situation that very rarely happens. The vast majority of the time (as in like 9 out of 10 times) the team that wins the West wins it because they won more West games than any other West teams. IMO the schedule thing has become nothing more than a built in excuse for any season LSU does not win the West. The reality is it is rarely the reason they did not.

i would like to see 9 games too but i'm not surprised that ADs don't want to give up the revenue from a home game every other year.

i didn't need to look it up, when your team gets screwed like that it's something you don't forget. But hey it didn't happen to alabama so i guess you don't give a shite

It matters in the context of a playoff IMO.
A tougher schedule should be an advantage in the context of a playoff, especially since the SEC is staying at 8 conference games. You want those 8 games to boost your SOS. I want Bama to have a very tough schedule every year. If UT continues to suck (and I don't think they will) that will come back to bite Bama eventually when we miss out on a playoff spot due to SOS.
I think SOS will be the #1 criteria for the selection committee, just like it has become for the basketball committee. It is by far the easiest way to explain a selection to the media and that is what they will do. If there are 2 undefeated teams and three 12-1 teams, they will take the two undefeated teams (from a Big 5 conference) and the two with the highest SOS of the 1 loss teams.

In Alabama's three NC years (2009, 2011, 2012) they have not played an opponent from the East with a winning record in the SEC.

It's bullshite we hardly get to play/travel to the other east teams. Simple as that.

Cross divisional games wouldn't matter if the playoff system just counted on if you win your conference.
Have each division of each conference have a champion based on games within the division, have those two teams play conference championships, take the big 5 champions and put them in a 6 team playoff system ranked based on total wins/losses (so extra-divisional games still matter, but don't effect whether you make it to the playoffs) with a 6th at large position, have 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5, then 1 vs winner of 4/5, and 2 vs winner of 3,6, then the winners match up.

The only way you can say you got screwed is if you assume Alabama would have lost to Florida in 2012. You can cry about hypothetical games all you want. Instead take care of business and beat Alabama and you won't have to worry about getting screwed. LSU has never beaten Alabama in a year Bama won the West. The only time you can even remotely argue LSU got screwed happened once in 22 years.

Yada yada, compare past 8 or 9 years w/l for LSU v fl against Bama v ut.
An extra loss could eliminate you from contention period.

we'll never know because you didn't even have to play them. amazing how that works, isn't it? Must be nice

LSU, A&M and Alabama were all 1-1 against the other two. The record against the eastern teams was the sole determination of who went to the SECCG. Guess who got to go? The team who didn't have to play an eastern team with a pulse.

somehow these basic concepts elude him
and all this without mentioning all the officiating alabama has benefited from.

if all you have to respond with is an emoticon that shows me that you know you don't have a leg to stand on in this discussion.

Key word "could". Yet it has only played a factor in LSU winning or losing the West once in 22 years. In every season LSU won the West, they beat Alabama. In every season Bama won the West, we beat LSU. That is what it comes down to.

This is the honest answer

SEC teams shouldn't be going 8 years between playing each other.

we got screwed in 2006 too. We beat Arkansas but they got to go to the SECCG because again, they didn't play an east team with a pulse while we lost to Florida.
Cost us a possible SEC and National Title.
