its really regional outside of a few fields. another example, architecture, Auburn is one of the top programs in the country, but I can tell you for a fact the New York office of HOK(one of the largest firms in the world) Auburn isnt even on their radar, however their Atlanta office is the opposite

My girlfriend works for the HOK office in Atlanta. She went to GA Tech though (She thinks highly of the architecture program at Auburn. She does not like the one at Clemson though).
