Late June early July, bulging disc, hurt it lifting weights.

If this is true, this is a very common injury among pro athletes, the NFL in particular. It should be manageable. So if he's out for the season, it's something else.

I have a bulging L4/L5 and degenerative disc disease, and I deadlift 355 and rising. And these guys are a lot stronger and younger than me. IF it's a bulging disc, he'll be fine.

From what I read they are expecting him to play as long as he can tolerate the pain and then have surgery when the season is over.

That depends. If the disc is pinching a nerve like say the sciatic nerve then he's barely able to to stand and sit down without shooting pain in his leg. Had that shite about two years ago luckily the Marine Corps paid for me to have surgery but still. A herniated disc can go for months with no pain and no symptoms. Then ssomething happens and it slides over and pinches a nerve and then you're VERY aware that something is wrong.
