Well, it's finally established in the U. S., and it's here to stay. Thankfully it's rarely fatal but it can be extremely painful.
The first cases of local infection of Chikungunya were in Florida but the map below shows its possible range based on the two mosquito vectors that carry it, Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus, the tiger mosquito.
What kind of mosquito repellent do you use? I favor Deep Woods Off. Bug zappers and citronella candles don't work.

No bug spray. I'm more afraid of DEET and other shite they put in that stuff long term than I am mosquitoes.

Thought this was a new racist term.

Nah, too many syllables.

If you sound it out slowly as it's spelled it sounds like "chick and gun, yeah".

DEET is the only effective repellent. If it causes you problems, try spraying it only on your clothes. A rash from DEET would be better than contracting West Nile, St. Louis Encephalitis, Dengue Fever or a host of other mosquito-carried viruses, I would think.

Yep, DEET is the only thing I've found to be effective. I've used this stuff before on my clothes and it was like I had a force field:

Holy crap, that's some strong stuff. 98.1% DEET.
I've never seen anything that strong. Where'd you find it?

Yea, Minnesota and Wisconsin have it bad, it's all the damn lakes and ponds they have.

Allethrin is the active ingredient and has a moderate effect on mosquitoes. Studies show that it's most effective indoors because of the effect of wind and dispersion into the surrounding air. It's safe for humans, even indoors.
