I question whether the NCAA would have cared, but your thought process is the same as what compliance was thinking, I'm sure.

Well, no, the NCAA probably doesn't -- and definitely shouldn't -- care. It's an extremely minor violation. But they've successfully set up a system where schools are scared into revealing every little thing for fear that the punishment will be worse if they don't confess. It's a pretty effective, if somewhat scuzzy, system. I should know...I've used it on more than one kid in my time.
