What makes the rankings ridiculous is when they raise a guys numerical rating after seeing him perform in person and then drop him again in the same summer despite him not attending any other camps and no new film on him coming out because it's in between seasons. That kind of stuff is what makes me not put a whole lot of stock in to recruiting services.

I've never understood why there is such hatred for recruiting rankings. Is the system perfect? No. But point to me a system that is. But the winningest major college football program since 2008 has finished #1 in the recruiting rankings all but once since the '08 recruiting class.
