Scrooster is crotchety with everyone. I wouldn't spend much time on him.

Also, in regards to recruiting, I think if you re ranked the 2010, 2011 and 2012 classes to this point, you would find that South Carolina's have ended up being better or about even. 2012 was very good on the defensive side for UF though, so we will see.
2010-2012 was a disaster of offensive recruiting for Florida.
13 and 14 have been much better.
That being said, in those 3 season, UF had two bad teams (11 and 13), and one decent team (12). The two bad teams took 11-2 south carolina to the wire, and the one good teaming 2012 beat the ever living shite out of 11-2 South Carolina.
IDK what that tells you...

You should probably include the context of the conversation.
He was talking about DBs specifically. He didn't say all positions.
By all means though, run with your agenda, whatever it is.
I watched the interview.
He didn't put it in any context.
He said exactly what I quoted in the subject line.

"Defensively I think we have a good mix of talent. We do lack some experience in some areas. I take talent over experience any day."
He then goes on to say he is a bit worried about the experience on the DL:
"Past those guys, I really like our talent. I don't know that we've got a lot of experience in those situations but I feel good about getting accommodation of eight to ten guys up front. You would like to have four or five inside and four or five outside that can play. I think we'll be able to come up with that number as we move closer to the season playing against Idaho. "
And then he reinforces it about the secondary:
" I've always played young guys in the secondary and had great success with all of them. I think we'll be fine there. "

Man. That Florida player that blocked his team mate in that loss to Georgia Southern really proves his point.

IDK either except that '12, in the Swamp was the ST fumbles game and the score was one thing but no, statistically UF did not beat the ever loving shite out of a SCAR team just coming off the road at LSU and with a roster decimated by the flu.
But I see what you are perceiving in your mind and I do hope UF sticks with Will. He's obviously a helluva coach who suffered through some incredibly bad luck last season.
All he has to do is keep recruiting'em and UF should dominate for years to come with all that talent.
BTW, any UT fans around to remind us of all their Top 10 classes in a row before their collapse?
Here's my point.
Muschamp will end-up probably having to explain that comment to some people who heard it, before all is said and done.
He'll be asked about it this season.
I've never ever heard a coach say it before.
I've heard coaches say, "I'll take heart and effort over talent," many times. I've heard coaches say, "You can't coach speed.". I've heard coaches say, "Experience is the best teacher." I've heard coaches say, "There is no substitute for experience." .... but Muschamp's statement, it made me go hmmmmm.

Oh wait... were those excuses?
Because I can roll out a bunch of very good excuses why UF had bad season in 2011 and 2013 and it doesn't have anything to do with Muschamp being a bad coach or talent being the ultimate failure...
The issue with Florida, and it has been an issue for years now, has been the talent on the offensive side of the ball. There were massive defections on offense in the 2010 and 2011 classes, and the 2012 offensive recruiting class was pathetic.
Hence, UF has struggled on offense.
Talent matters.
UF's 2013 and 2014 classes have been better, and coupled with some transfers, UF has more offensive talent then they've had since the 2010 season ended.
Regardless of that argument though, or how you feel about the statement personally, he was making reference to the defensive side of the ball, and the secondary, which is his fricking specialty, and he has years of proof to back up his statement.

Florida has had "good" classes but not the "best of the best".
Florida in terms of talent is right there with Alabama and LSU. The recruiting has not been affected at all.

South Carolina out gained Florida that day 191-183 in offense, but UF led in all purpose yards 292-257.
UF also held TOP 35.5-24.5, was 7-16 on 3rd down compared to 3-14 for USCe, and even blocked a FG while going 6-7 in the RZ.
That sounds like domination to me. Especially since the score was also 44-11 and UF didn't out gain anyone by a ton that year.

Wait a second. "Massive defections." Does that speak to talent or experience issues?

This is where I get mad at Florida fans.
They say stuff like this and get mad at Muschamp...
The 2010 and 2011 offensive recruiting classes, assembled mostly by Meyer, were utter crap, and most of them transferred. Muschamp's first class (2012) and this is all his fault, was TERRIBLE on offense.
That's 3 bad years of offensive recruiting and it has shown on the field, especially with the offensive coaching carousel. I would rank UF's offensive recruiting in the bottom third of the SEC in those years.
2013 and 2014 have been much better. And some transfers have alleviated some of the holes from the 10-12 classes.
The defensive classes have been excellent, and easily as good as LSU and Alabama, and that has shown on the field.
