We could say the same thing if he got cited for jaywalking or not paying a parking ticket on time. But we wouldn't because we realize those are silly tiny infractions that don't really mean anything in the big picture. Weed is the same way.

Technical illegality alone is not a sufficient standard to condemn a behavior. There has to be some demonstrable deleterious effect to society. Otherwise, we'd be enforcing a whole host of blue laws still on the books that no one gives a shite about.

The last time that I checked weed is illegal in Georgia and in our own state. One might not agree with that but until the law changes there will be consequences if anyone engages in it and gets caught. Put that aside even, he has a responsibility to his team, his university and even to himself if he wants to be a leader on this team to abstain from this type of behavior. This is a distraction that could harm the overall goals of that team. His actions were selfish IMO. But I guess I'm old school and still believe in personal accountability.
