The mizzou fan gets it.

Can you run the football when the opponent knows you want to run the football?

It is about efficiency on the ground in those money situations. And it is the difference between a good team and elite team.

The best stat that i have found for this is rushing TDs.
The best at running the rock into the endzone are the best teams at the end of the season (i.e. win the big games).

UGA is a great example of when running the rock for yards on 1st and 2nd down are meaningless (crowell was a beast on downs 1 and 2 when the defenses were respecting the pass option... but in running situations, Crowell was very underwhelming.)
2011 was another example of a bad rushing UGA team that lost every major game on the schedule (10-4). It is the fine line between good and great.
