And those numbers are all clearly skewed by the crappy competition you faced that year, am I right?
Bama faced a whopping 2 offenses that were inside the top 70 in scoring offense in 2011, and one of those was LSU. Your defense didn't face anyone that year that could be considered a really good offense outside of Arkie, and you got them early before Tyler Wilson had even settled in as a starter.
Auburn at least faced 5 top 50 offenses in 2004, which is more than I can say for 2011 Bama. And we held all of those offenses but Arkie under 14 points (and Tenn in a rematch after we let off the gas).
Trying to use schedules as a reason to discount a team is dumb as hell period, but doing so when your own championship teams have had crazy easy schedules is just beyond silly.
1995 Nebraska had a crazy easy schedule, doesn't stop them from being one of the best teams of all time.
They played (and destroyed) 4 teams that finished in the top 10.
