It's at crisis stage and has been ignored by lawmakers here for years. The Feds have threatened taking over the prison system here and that has finally caused lawmakers into action. It's too little too late though, and the Feds will be taking over our prison system within the next year.

Most of the residents here don't really care though. They have the attitude that they're prisoners and deserve what they get. Sad state of affairs.

Another reason for the increase in violence is segregation. "Almost all the assaults and rapes and every one of the murders have happened in cell blocks L, M, P, Q, and lockup," Ray told me. These cell blocks house mostly black prisoners and are devoid of any books, newspapers, televisions, or other entertainment options. Other blocks—where there are more white prisoners—have more amenities, according to Ray.

Something from your link.

Now when you read that and then reread your last statement
