Just go with a nice speyside single malt.
If you must drink Bourbon though, Elijah Craig 12 year is pretty good mid-shelf bourbon.

No. I have nothing against Scotch. I have kept an open mind and I have tried a number of high quality single malts.
But I enjoy Bourbon MUCH better than Scotch. That's just the way it is for me. Scotch has too much raisins, figs, stewed fruits and other tastes I don't care for all that much. Plus many of them allow coloring. I think Bourbon tastes better and, frankly, is more honest.
